University of Europe for Applied Sciences Celebrates Grand Opening in Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 23 April 2024 – The University of Europe for Applied Sciences (UE) marked a historic moment with the grand opening of its cutting-edge campus in Dubai. Situated at One Central, Dubai World Trade Centre, this event heralded the debut of the first German university in the UAE, fortifying the academic and cultural ties between Germany and the United Arab Emirates.

Esteemed guests graced the grand opening ceremony, including Sybille Pfaff, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Dubai; Her Excellency Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA); and Professor Maurits van Rooijen, President of University of Europe and its Dubai Campus. Consul General Sybille Pfaff voiced her enthusiasm, saying, “The inauguration of the first German private university in Dubai brings German academic excellence to the UAE, particularly to the forward-looking city of Dubai. Her Excellency Aisha Abdulla Miran of KHDA extended a warm welcome, stating, “The UE Dubai establishment is a significant step towards enhancing the UAE’s high-quality higher education landscape. We anticipate the university to shape the next wave of thinkers and innovators who will drive Dubai’s growth in line with the D33 vision.” Professor Maurits van Rooijen, President of UE Dubai, reflected on the university’s launch, “The opening of University of Europe in Dubai is not just about academic offerings; it signifies a gateway to innovation and excellence in higher education outside Germany. UE Dubai boasts recognition from the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research, and Culture in Germany, offering a diverse range of programs tailored to modern workforce needs. This includes Master’s programs in Diplomacy, Software Engineering, Visual & Experience Design, and Data Science. Additionally, starting September, two Bachelor of Science programs will be introduced: Business and Management Studies, and Digital Business & Data Science.

Strategic alliances with renowned German organizations in the UAE, such as DHL and the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK), enhance UE Dubai’s educational offerings, providing students with practical experiences and broader professional networks.
